So, to get a crackin' music video as a group we have spent our doule lessons creating some music videos. Using a variety of different genre's we experiemented different ways to film. Each week, a different person was in charge of the camera, directing and editing. We were pretty impressed considering they were all done in only one hour and a half!!!
Doing these videos showed the complications that could occur in lip synching. I also learnt how to use the green screen and that the more shots you have the more variety in your music video.
Finally, I have decided my song for my music video. It is Boys and Girls in Love by The Rumble Strips.
The genre is indie, because I would like to experiment with artistic shots and it has a brilliant beat.
The lyrics are limited which is helpful when learning the lines. Where they are repetitive this means I could possibly repeat scenes in the video!

Our first photoshop lesson also included using the lasso tool, to get the basics done we cut out mario and sonic and popped them on another background..
We then went to more adnanced matters making Harry Potter fly over London! Here my attempt, the blur was supposed to make it look like he was moving in motion however, i think its too much.
We had some time left at the end of the lesson so I decided to experiment a bit more with photoshop making my friend look like she was in a different room.
We also did some rota scoping like how the old school animations were done, I found this activity fun, and it might help with the childish theme I might involve on my digipak... The orginal

I also did a second one, experimenting with the real photo and then the rota scoped one mixed together, you can see the eyes become quite creepy..
So in preparation for our digipaks we have been practising our photoshop skills.
Personally, being a lover of 'Paint' on the computer I have not used photoshop (properly) before. The past few lessons have taught me the basics that I could use for my own design..
Here we are making font with a picture as the background..
My first attempt
I then experimented further by going on a font website and found a cool graffti font I wanted.
But in order to use it i had to cut it out with the magnetic lassoo tool..
I then carried on as you would normally placing it on a graffti background..
Then carried on as usual placing the text onto another background
However, because the font was quite thin it is hard to see the actual word, also both backgrounds are very busy..
So before I decide my style and song I want for my music video we have watched a few music videos in class to help inspire our own visions.
Postcardfrom 1952 This music video took pictures taken from the '50s and reenacted them adding movement. The slow motion images compliment the music perfectly. I really like the old vintage feel with the '50s mise-en-scene and dress codes, however, setting my music video in a different decade would be very challenging as I wouldnt be able to have anything from todays world in the shots. The way I could over come this is if I was to set my video in a forest or somewhere outside where you wouldnt get any cars. Another thing I like about this video is the warm lighting, this is something I may look into when filming my own video.
Jamiroquai - Virtual Insanity
The surrealism in this music video makes it something of a spectacle, the plain set also works well, as you can see that Jamiroquai is the attention.
M.I.A. Bad Girls
I love the costumes in this and the constant movement of the camera. This is a more hip-hop genre where there are many possibilities such as dances.
Metronomy
This is one of my favourites, the lighting is beautiful. I especially want to take inspiration from the editing matching the beat of the moving.
